College of Architecture and Construction Technology (CoACT)
The College of Architecture and Construction Technology was officially established on 1st September, 2019 following the reformation of the University to become a more world-class, modern University of Science and Technology and as well as to become more responsive to the current market demands.
The general objective of the College is to offer education and training in architecture and art design, building science and technology, building construction technology and management, landscape architecture, land planning, and quantity surveying so as to develop a critical mass of highly trained manpower who will work in construction industry as Contractors and Consultants (Architectural Technologists, Architects, Landscape Architects, Interior Designers and Quantity Surveyors) as well as policy makers. Furthermore, it intends to equip young generation with the necessary skills in the areas of building performance, sustainable design and building informatics. This necessitates a paradigm shift towards creating built environments that are not only comfortable and healthy for the users but are also sustainable.

However, in the meantime only two departments which are; Architecture and Art Design, and Construction Management and Technology have started to operate whereby out of the two, the department of Architecture and Art Design has three(3) academic programmes running which are: (1) Diploma in Architecture, (2) Bachelor of Technology in Architecture, and (3) Bachelor of Technology in Landscape Architecture.
The Department of Construction Management and Technology (CMT) is developing new programs as well as offering staff to teach various courses within and outside the College. The College has successfully developed the following programs: Bachelor Degree in Quantity surveying, Master of Science in Construction Management, and Master of Science in Building Performance & Technology which are expected to start running soon after the College acquires enough staff. Currently the College is developing Curriculum for Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Bachelor of Architecture.
The present College Principal is Dr. Mwajuma Lingwanda while the Department of Architecture and Art Design is headed by Ms. Rosemary Kavishe whereas the Department of Construction Management and Technology is headed by Dr. Gislar Kifanyi.
The College has 38 young and enthusiastic staff who are determined to see the College grow to the highest level in all its core functions within and outside MUST. Currently, CoACT has seven (7) Lecturers; 19 Assistant Lecturers; eight (8) Tutorial Assistants, three (3) Instructors and one (1) Technician. A total eight (8) staff are on study leave out which six (6) staff are pursuing PhD and one (1) is undergoing a Master Degree study. Presently, the College has student enrolment of about 570.
