Principal, College of Humanities and Business Studies

The College of Humanities and Business Studies (CoHBS) is one of the academic units at Mbeya University of Science and Technology.  The College was established in 2019 and its tasked with providing knowledge and expertise in the business domain and in the humanities arena. In order to achieve this, the College offers long term training programmes in various levels such as bachelor, diploma and certificate. Further, the College also provides short courses in key strategic areas in Humanities and Business Administration. The Short Courses are skills-based training courses designed to update the participant’s skills in current and emerging industry issues such as strategic Management, customer care, budgeting, conflict resolution and management, project management, marketing and communication, entrepreneurship and social media marketing.  In order to contribute to the society, the College carries out Research and consultancy in areas related to the programmes offered at the College.

The College has two departments which are Business Management and Humanities. It expects to establish a department of laws. Eight programmes are offered under the Business Management Department and six programmes are under development in the Humanities Department. The college expects to soon begin offering postgraduate programmes at Masters and Doctoral levels. The Master of Economics and PhD in economics have been approved by the relevant authorities and will be offered as soon the required staff are obtained.

It also supports other Colleges in training Entrepreneurship, Development Studies and Communication Skills.

The College has vibrant faculty made up of 45 academic members of staff in the College and their qualifications are as follows: three are senior lecturers, nine lecturers,25 Assistant Lecturers, six tutorial assistants and two instructors. Currently, 1,090 students are enrolled in the College.
